GRAND PARIS, GRAND BERLIN
Theory Seminar Summer 2015
Research Seminar The research seminar "GPB" is a research supplement to our design studio. The task of the research seminar will be the development of the "Grand Berlin Atlas", a thematically structured collection of historic and contemporary mappings, analyses, projections, reference projects, texts, data and images. The Atlas will investigate the spatial structure of Grand Berlin, from the metropolitan to the typological scale, and its underlying dynamics. At the same time it will form the collective knowledge pool of the project that will be extended, refined and deepened semester by semester.
The research seminar is divided into two parts: It will start with an intensive two-week workshop that will put up the main components of the Atlas; in a second phase we will sort the collected material and edit it for a publication.
Application If you are interested in our research seminar you need to participate in our task 0. The handout will be on April 7 at 2pm in room A814. All further information and instructions will be given there.
Students who are accepted for the design studio are automatically registered for the theory seminar.
Qualification The theory seminar is addressed to highly motivated students who should have experience with programs such as InDesign, Illustrator and CAAD. Erasmus students are explicitly welcome.
